Who I Am

Well, hello there! I was born Justin Willingham, but most people call me Trip (I was born with ‘supernumancy.’ Google it if you dare)! I am a right-brained, generally optimistic and positive person who just entered my 30’s. I’ve got a “lost boy”  spirit and constantly searching for my place in the world.

I am an alumnus of the University of North Texas where I studied journalism and advertising at the nationally accredited Mayborn School of Journalism. I spent five years in Denton, which is the coolest little city in Texas! Just one week after I graduated, I got my first “big boy” job in the “Live Music Capital of the World,” Austin, TX and began working for a digital advertising agency.

After one year in Austin and ending a long-term relationship, I wasn’t too certain what I wanted out of a career or out of life and felt lost in this world. I left my job digital marketing job for the open road. What started out as a summer gig in years past, turned into full blown tour cycles. I would spend seven to eight months out of the year traveling the country and selling t-shirts at the biggest rock festivals in the states.

During that time, I met my girlfriend of five years while on the road. We did the long distance thing for about a year before I decided to pack my bags and move to California. I have now been a California resident for about four years.

Now, I work as an interior designer for a Magnolia Audio / Video – a store within Best Buy. I get to build really cool smart home solutions for clients all across Los Angeles.

When I am not at work, I like to go on hikes with my dog, Sally. I am a huge Disney fan and since moving to California, I try to go to Disneyland as often as I can. I love listening to and collecting vinyl records and trying new root beers from different places that I’ve traveled. Running, long bicycle rides, and rock climbing are usually my stress reliever and I love skateboarding.

Thanks for stopping by!
